Mindfulness for Education Leaders (MEL): designed to introduce mindfulness and how it supports leadership in education settings. MEL has been developed as part of the Innovation Programme of the National Academy for Education Leadership (NAEL) in Wales.
It’s even more important now as leaders face the challenges and uncertainties of maintaining and re-establishing provision acknowledging the traumatic nature of the experience of staff (including themselves) and learners due to the pandemic. It will help leaders cope with the emotional and mental health and wellbeing of staff and learners.
In Wales the programme has particular relevance with the introduction of the new curriculum and the Whole School Approach to emotional and mental health.
It includes helping to:
- develop mindful leadership
- enhance self care and relationships with others
- support better decision making and prioritisation
- boost resilience and enable more effective responses
- support the introduction of the new curriculum and the Whole School Approach in Wales.
Participants tell us:
“I understand my own self care needs better.”
